Atlas app and cash back subscriptions

You pay for Netflix. You pay for Spotify. You pay for your phone and probably three streaming services you forgot you signed up for.

That money leaves your account every month no matter what. The only question is whether you're getting anything back for it.

If you're paying for subscriptions with your Atlas card, you could be earning up to 5% cashback on those charges.¹ And every on-time payment adds to your credit history, which is one of the most important factors in your credit score. Same bills you're already paying, except now they're actually working for you.

The Subscriptions You're Already Paying For

The average American spends over $200 a month on subscriptions. That's streaming, music, and the random ones you keep meaning to cancel. Atlas supports all major subscription services, so you can earn cash back on subscriptions you’re already paying for, including:

Netflix, Spotify, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock TV, Paramount+, and Pandora.

Switching takes about two minutes per service: go to your account settings on the streaming platform, find the payment section, and swap in your Atlas card number. From that point forward, each monthly charge can earn you cashback and counts as an on-time payment on your credit report.

If you have six subscriptions averaging $15 each, that's $90 a month.2 Platinum Tier members earning 5% back would get $4.50 a month, or $54 a year, just from bills they were already paying.

Cut Back on the Bills You're Overpaying For

Now for the subscriptions you're less sure about. You probably don't need to cancel everything, but you might be paying more than you should for the ones you keep.

Atlas has a built-in bill manager, powered by Billshark, that can negotiate your bills down for you. Phone, cable, internet, home security: if there's a lower rate available, Billshark's team will call the provider and negotiate on your behalf. Your service doesn't get downgraded. You just pay less. The service supports over 200 providers including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Comcast, Charter, Cox, ADT, and DirecTV. According to Billshark, members save an average of $450 per successful bill.

While you're in the Perks tab, check out Atlas's partnership with Savvy for auto insurance. Link your current policy, and Savvy will shop 80+ insurance providers to find you a better rate. According to Savvy, users save an average of $1,500 a year. If they find a cheaper option that matches your coverage, you can switch for free.

Pay Your Other Bills Through Atlas Too

Some bills don't accept credit cards. Rent is the big one. Many utility companies and municipal services only take a bank account number.

That's where Atlas Bill Pay comes in. Open the Atlas app, go to the Money tab, tap Money Controls, and select Bill Pay. You'll see your account and routing numbers right there. Add those to your biller's payment portal, and your bills get paid automatically from your Atlas Checking Account as long as your balance covers them.

One thing to note: Bill Pay payments come from your checking account balance, not your credit line, so you won't earn cash back on these. But for bills like electric, gas, and water that can't go on a credit card anyway, it keeps everything in one place. Payments typically take 2–5 business days to process, so fund your balance a few days before each due date.

If you're on an annual Atlas plan, there's an extra option for rent specifically. Atlas Rent Reporting sends your on-time rent payments directly to Experian each month, which means your biggest monthly expense can actually contribute to your credit history. No extra steps after you enroll. You pay rent like you normally would, and Atlas handles the reporting.

Why This Matters for Your Credit Score

Every time your Atlas card processes a subscription payment and you pay your balance on time, that's another positive mark on your credit report. According to FICO, payment history is one of the most important factors in your credit score, accounting for about 35% of the total.

The beauty of subscriptions is that they're automatic. You're not going to forget about a $15.99 Netflix charge. It hits your card, you pay your balance (or let Smart Pay handle it), and your payment history gets another month of on-time data. Over twelve months, that pattern adds up significantly.

Atlas members who make on-time payments for 12 consecutive months see an average credit score increase of over 50 points.² And you don't have to do anything extra to make it happen. Just pay for the stuff you were already paying for, except now it's working for you instead of just disappearing.

The Bottom Line

You're spending money on subscriptions and bills every month regardless. The only variable is what you're getting back.

Put your streaming and subscriptions on your Atlas card to earn cashback. Use the subscription manager to make sure you're not overpaying for the bills you keep. And for everything that needs a bank account, route it through Bill Pay so it's all in one place. Your credit history grows in the background with every on-time payment.
